Exploring the 7 Components of Tourism

Traveling to a destination is often driven by the anticipation of experiencing something unique and special. This is why attractions are considered the main reason why tourists travel to a particular destination. For example, it is very difficult to travel to the Annapurna base camp, but still a lot of people visit the place because of its beauty. Accommodation is another important component of tourism.

Tourists need a place to stay and relax, and this includes clean, hygienic and well-maintained accommodation with a comfortable bed, cleaning and sanitary facilities with an adequate supply of hot and cold water. Unfortunately, many developing countries, such as Nepal, are left behind in this regard. A wide range of accommodations may be available in most destinations, from tourist accommodations to five-star luxury hotels. Conveniences are those features that are useful or that provide enjoyment, comfort, and convenience.

It is also related to facilities, when the tourism business is weak, many amenities are offered as a complementary product. Tourist services include food and beverage facilities, drinking water suitable for consumption, good communications, local transportation, adequate waste disposal and sewerage systems, medical services, reliable electricity and adequate water supply, etc. In addition to experiencing the tourist “product”, tourists would like to participate in other facilities-oriented recreational activities: swimming (natural pools or pools), fishing, boating, short distance trips, walking nature, visits tourism, shopping, etc. In the case of an independent or tailor-made tour, the visitor purchases services individually.

This is done by making reservations in advance, directly or through a travel agency, or as needed during the tour. The latter is called a walk-in agreement, which depends on availability. An included tour package or tour is an agreement in which tour operators prepare packages and purchase individual items in advance from producers and wholesalers. Since these services are purchased in advance in large quantities, the tour operator purchases at a special discount price (between 20% and 30% lower than the market price).

It then sells individual and group trips directly or through travel agencies that perform the retail function. For this reason, travel agencies earn a commission (from 2% to 10%). Accommodation can be in the formal sector (hotel) or in the subsidiary sector (guest house, camping, rental apartment, etc. Catering can be based on a meal plan that includes a variety of options). For example, an American plan that includes 3 meals, a modified American plan that includes breakfast and lunch or dinner, and a European plan that includes only breakfast.
